Hello,
I have the DVG-G5402SP. the firmware is the latest with driver 0.10.26.1.224, DSLX, Hardware : B1-0.1 WIfi mode is set to 'b' + 'g'
it is set with static IP on the WAN side. DHCP server enabled.
Frequeently the wifi stops working. And when you look on the wifi scan on the PC, the SSID is no longer being broadcast. Rebooting the Router and the wifi SSID reappears, and of course the laptop users can use the Wifi.
Rebooting the router every day is not possible, but currently required.
there were some other problems, but practical solutions.
Prior to this, users often could not log into the WIFI. The Wifi mode was 'g'only. And when the laptop attempted to log onto the SSID, it would momentarily stop on the channel, and then move on. I changed the transmit mode to both 'g' and 'b' and it seems to have resolved this problem, but not the SSID not being broadcast problem.
Also, i had a second router, DIR-300, connected to this router with its own subnet. It was frequently losing the DNS relay ability(laptop users on this subnet had internet access, but DNS was not resolved). Problem resolved by setting the static IP, and DNS, on the WAN side. Wonder if this was a problem with the G5402SP.
Are there known problems with this router?
Are there settings that will work better? maybe i have settings not optimal.
is it best to re-install the software that was preinstalled at factory?
is there more recent software than available on the ftp site.?
will wifi in 'b' only be more reliable. other suggestions.
Its a busy environment and resetting the router every day because of Wifi is not practical. I already bought 4 of these and wanted to standardise on this model - i need to buy hundreds. This SSID dissapearing would hinder standardisation on this product. Is it likely to be fixed?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
