Hello, colleagues!
I recently moved to a new apartment and found that my old D-Link DIR-842 router does not always cope with network coverage: the signal is excellent near the device, but the speed drops almost in half through two walls.
I would like to hear your experience and recommendations:
Router placement. Is there a “golden” rule for placing an access point in an apartment with two rooms?
2.4 GHz or 5 GHz range. What is better to choose for stable operation if there are many neighboring networks around?
Channels and channel width. Do you configure them manually or leave them on “Auto”?
Additional solutions. Should I consider a Mesh system or repeaters to expand the coverage area?
I would be grateful for any advice and “best practices” that will help achieve a stable signal and high Wi-Fi speed at home. I think this topic will be useful to many who are faced with a similar problem.
Thank you all for your response!
