Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a D-Link DIR-825 router and decided to set it up to provide maximum protection for my home network. I found that new firmware versions have additional Firewall parameters, and the documentation explains them in a rather general way.
I would like to discuss a few questions with the community:
What packet filtering modes do you consider optimal for home use (without excessive load on the device)?
Should SPI filtering be enabled constantly, or are standard NAT rules sufficient?
Does anyone use separate rules to block unwanted IP/ports? Please share working examples.
Does it make sense to combine the router's built-in Firewall with a software one (for example, Windows Firewall), or is this excessive?
I would be glad to receive any advice and “best practices” on setting up security on D-Link routers. I hope this topic will be useful to other users as well.
Thanks in advance for your answers!
